Dear Diary

What an eventful week!

To start off, I PR'd in the open 800 in track. I was proud, to say the least.

We had a birth control specialist come in and talk to us in health. Did I mention how hillarious he was? Let's just say he is probably very successful at his job.

Mother Monster released her much awaited third album, Born This Way. I love it. Every track is different, yet each one blows my mind.

Since dance ended last week, *wiping tears away*, I got to watch the Glee Season Finale on TV (instead of using Hulu on my laptop)! It was....amazing. I was trying to think of a more intelligent word to describe my exact opinion of it, but amazing is the only word that fits. I don't think I could love the songs more.

Speaking of finales, our Orchestra Finale concert was on Thursday. I was actually surprised by how well we did! Don't me get wrong, I wasn't expecting road-kill or anything... okay, scratch that. I was. Despite how horrible that sounds, it's true. However, I was pleased with the quite contrasting result.

I got talked into watching the Disney movie "Tangled" with my sister. As you can probably guess, it was your typical fluffy princess-type Disney movie. The sad part is that my inner romantic actually falls for that stuff. Though, I started watching with a very skeptical attitude, I was definitely convinced by the end. Congratulations Disney, you've managed to sweep me off my feet once again.

Warning: I'm about to sound like a pathetic person who analyzes things way too much. Please skip over if you aren't in the mood for ridiculous conclusions.

I have realized a possible reason as to why friends start to drift apart. It sounds quite ridiculous but yes, there is a legit reason for this, especially for girls. Once again, I would like to say that this is just an opinion and if it offends you, please skip over it.

I think that girls have a habit of getting super close to their friends over a relatively short period of time, and at first, it's quite nice. We love to get close to new people and get to know the little things about our friends. But then, we hit a point where we're so close, we start to notice things that we may not neccessarily like. We may start to get annoyed or easily frustrated with our whirlwind friendship.

Ever heard the saying "familiarity breeds contempt"? I think that it mainly applies to girls. You're probably wondering, what has led to me to such a depressing conclusion. Well, I feel like I'm currently experiencing what I just described. That's all I want to say about that.

All right, I'm done releasing my inner neurotic freak.

This week's playlist is interesting. It's a combo of old songs and new songs. It might be one of my favorites. I'm feeling lazy, so I'm not going to post a screenshot of the playlist.

You may have noticed the newly added SCM player at the top of the page. It will be playing the latest playlist, and will start automatically after the page loads. I really like how you can see the song title and artist's name, so I don't have to post a screenshot if I'm not in the mood :)

Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Hello, Goodbye

Wow, one month is a long time to be away!

One of the most true things I've heard all year: "AP means advanced procrastinator."  I know those of you who saw me studying my euro flash cards at every opportune moment and reading my AP book wherever possible are probably guffawing at this statement. I would just like to say that I felt like I could have studied more, but that's just me :)

The TA in my health class stinks of drugs. Gross.

TODAY IS PROM. Not that I'm going or anything. However, I will be major prom photo creeping on Sunday! Admit it, you do it too.

A major accomplishment occured on Wednesday night. I semi-conquered my fear of spiders. I was able to be in the same room as a spider and not run out screaming. In fact, I even captured the spider in a bottle! I was pretty proud of myself.

Two movies I must see: Something Borrowed and Thor

I know this happened a while ago, but since I have been MIA for a month or so, I thought I would talk about it anyway. I totally loved the Royal Wedding. Everything about it was simply perfect. Her dress, the kiss, you name it. But we all know who I really had my eye on. That's right, Prince Harry. He is just too cute. *Sigh* But here's the real news. Apparently he is thinking of tying the knot with long time on-again-off-again girlfriend Chelsy Davy. Though I'm heartbroken, I'm very happy for them.

I really like grocery shopping. It's very relaxing.

I am in love with the Script's album "Science & Faith".

I have successfuly discovered the best Vegan snack ever. At lunch, go to the ala carte line and ask for the Chocolate Mint Sweet Crisps. They are the best thing ever invented for vegans. Seriously.

I'm really tired of school. I'm partially already mentally checked out.

Okay so this week's playlist is not a screenshot of my iTunes. Shocking, I know.
Instead, it's a screenshot of my youtube account. Haha, yes it's still a screenshot because I'm obsessed with taking pictures of my laptop. The songs are all really good, so make sure to listen to them!

Well that's all I have to say for now.

Spring Break Blues & Other Interesting Tunes

In case you're wondering, no. I didn't go anywhere exotic or adventurous for spring break. However, I did to Chicago! If you don't know me, I LOVE CHICAGO, and to top it off, it was practically summer down there! The journey home, however, is a completely different story.

We started from Chicago with sunny skies and a pleasant breeze in the air (this was around 1:30 pm). We had been driving for a while when a series of unfortunate events ocurred. At about 4:30 pm, we hit a traffic jam on a single lane road that went on for at least five miles. That was loads of fun! We probably started driving at a normal pace again at 5:30 pm. Shortly after, Mother Nature began to have other ideas.

The skies suddenly became overcast with dark clouds and it started to pour. If that wasn't enough, hail the size of what sounded like golf balls began to pound down on the car. Lovely. We could no longer see the road and pulled over under the nearest bridge. It finally cleared up after a while, but we were shaken up to say the least. We reached home much later than we had planned and I got to sleep in on monday morning :)

Speaking of crazy weather, when will it be summer already? I'm tired of this fluctuating weather!

Guess what? I found out my neighbor's dogs have rabies that is supposedly harmless to humans. Yippee!

Good News & Bad News:

Good: I got a 'SUPERIOR' on my solo for the solo/ensemble contest! You could say I'm pleased with myself, as it is the highest rating. I was slightly worried that I wouldn't do so well because the judge was known to be a tough one, but I'm definitely happy with the results.

Bad: I have an inflamed tendon in my left knee, causing me to have trouble walking without limping. Even worse, I have a dance performance tomorrow that I'll barely be able to make it through. Yay!

SHOCKING FACT: Iron Man 3 is being made by Disney and without the direction of the amazing Jon Favreau. Okay, so maybe it isn't that ground-breaking, but for an Iron Man fanatic like myself, this stuff matters. I don't know how I feel about it yet, but my expectations are definitely lower.

It's officially prom season!! My favorite things about it: the cute ways of asking and the dresses! Just the other day, in our school's parking lot, I saw the cutest idea ever. The boy (who shall remain nameless) had decorated the girl's car in colorful post-its, and the windshield had a huge 'PROM?' on it also made of post- its. The boy was pacing around, waiting for the girl, with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Oh, I almost forgot; she said yes! :)

Lynxes are so cute!!! I definitely need a pet lynx.

Since we're talking about cats already, did anyone know that mountain lions, pumas, and cougars are the same thing?

Okay, so this week's playlist is slightly different. The songs don't go very well together, but are definitely worth listening to!

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break!

Catch-up and Relish

Wow, two weeks feels like a long break. I feel like I haven't blogged in forever!
Since the last post, life has swerved all over the place.

I joined track! I know, I don't really seem like the running type, but it's never too late to start! I'm doing distance, which requires slightly more endurance. So far, it's going well. I mean, I know I'm not going to be varisty or anything, but I can already see the improvement!

I'm pretty sure my orthodontist thinks I eat chapstick. For the last three appointments, I've asked for a new chapstick every single time (they have stuff that feels really good). I know it seems like I have major chapstick issues but in my defense, the first time I lost it at temple, and the second time I forgot it in my jeans and it was destroyed in the wash. My hygienist probably thinks otherwise.

Minnesota should renamed as the 'Land of Bipolar Weather'. Within the same week, we've had immense sunshine, rainy showers the next, and a major snowstorm the day after. Mother Nature, obviously experiences indecision when she thinks of us.

You may have noticed the new tab at the top, "Smelling the Roses." Right now, I think I'll post artsy photographs that I've taken and think are cool. I'm debating adding another tab to keep track of my adventures in life through pictures.

Oh my gosh. Euro ends in five days! I can hardly wait. Through periodical analysis, I have decided that I dislike european history after the enlightened despots. However, Gorbachev appears to be an exception. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, despite his flaws.

I HATE MATH. Actually, let me clarify. I HATE 4X!

I didn't make Chamber Orchestra. I'll be honest and say I was extremely dissapointed and even went to the extent of crying about it. Childish, I know, but all I have to say about that is not making it was the icing on the cake consisting of my horrible week. Anway, now for the silver lining. I can re-audition during the summer! I definitely plan on making it.

Has anyone seen the 'Trojan Tribune on Twitter' signs in the bathroom? I would just like to say that I don't like being pressured to take out my phone and sign onto Twitter while I'm peeing.

Shoutout to Amy and Meaghan:
Congratulations on winning the award "for raising Indian awareness and appreciation!" (in the words of Amy). The medium of their achievement would be this amazing Bollywood song:

Hope you've enjoyed this little catch-up and relish sesh..

Black History Month: Week 4

Oh my gosh. I think these past two weeks killed me. I almost started crying in Euro, had three meltdowns at home this week, and managed to fail a quiz.

If African people are sunburnt, I'm honey toasted, and white people are lightly roasted.

You know you're a nerd when you recognize an allusion to The Odyssey in a random movie.

I was actually getting hopeful last week when I saw grass. But no, Minnesota winters will be Minnesota winters. The only part I'm actually mad about is not getting a snow day. Of course the snow would stop right in time for it to be cleaned up!

Easy A is hillarious. The End.

Remember a few weeks ago, when it was subzero and everyone was freezing their butt off? Well, while I was shivering, my brain was thinking "this is my body's attempt to maintain body heat through homeostasis." I think I've reached a new level of being too school for cool.

Aren't know-it-all subs annoying?

Sister Wendy is on Facebook!

GUESS WHAT?! I'm getting my braces off in a month!!! You could say I'm excited.

One of my biggest fears right now is forgetting to take off my rubberbands and accidentally swallowing one.

I made up a poem to describe myself when I have horrible colds. Here it is:

Happy Birthday to me,
I'm a hundred and two,
I sound like a zombie,
and I feel like one too!

I thought it was pretty creative.

Whenever I gravitate back towards Glee, I start to have second thoughts.
Let's be honest. Sam and Santana? What a joke.

Speaking of Glee, I am so jealous of anyone going to the Glee concert.

Okay here's the final playlist! I hope you guys liked my little Black History Month spree!
